An inviting light shines through the windows of the many cafés and restaurants and the warmth lures you inside. A cup of steaming chocolate milk with a thick dollop of whipped cream or a heart-warming meal sounds like music to your ears. In Leeuwarden, warmth can be found in many places. This winter create heavenly moments of enjoyment. From active to laid-back. Where are you going to warm up?

See the programmeA breath of fresh air
In need of a breath of fresh air? Just a few kilometres from the city centre, the sounds of the city fade away, giving way to the sounds of singing birds and croaking frogs. Leeuwarden has some beautiful nature areas, green oases where you can escape to. And they are all just a stone's throw away.
Into nature#snowarden - 'giet it oan?'
The city shrouded in icy cold weather and covered in a thick layer of fresh snow. Whether we can get our old, trusted skates and sharpen them again this year remains to be seen. Would you like to put your skates on anyway? Then, of course, you can always go to the Elfstedenhal. And until we can really say ‘it giet oan’ (It’s going to happen-referring to the Eleven Cities Skating Tour), you can enjoy these beautiful winter pictures of it.
