fun doesn't have a curvew
Would you like to dive into the underground music scene of Leeuwarden? In the bustling centre of the Frisian capital, you will find warm cafes, cozy bars, fashionable clubs, and venues showing the latest cutting-edge music. Going out in Leeuwarden can unexpectedly continue into the late (or early!) hours. In that case, here’s our tip: get your hangover breakfast (and aspirin) here.
Dance! - like nobody's watching
De Neushoorn (The Rhino) is a unique space in the heart of Leeuwarden. It is a centre for music, dance, and film culture- but it also nurtures developing talent. It has two concert halls, a cafe, practice and production rooms, spaces for workshops, and even spaces for innovative entrepreneurs. De Neushoorn is located in the Ruiterskwatier, opposite the opera house Stadsschouwburg De Harmonie.

A Pub Crawl - go out!
Take off your watch, and stop watching the time! It’s possible that you’ll spend the entire evening in one pub in Leeuwarden, but you can also embark on a pub crawl. Maybe you’ve already found your favourite spot, or perhaps you’d like to discover your new go-to bar?
Head out, because a pub crawl in Leeuwarden is not limited to one street. The city has several party districts, and each street has its own charm. The main night time hotspot is the Doelensteeg, where music and voices rise above the alley as the evening draws in. Choose one bar, or visit them all: the Doelenbar, Sybs, De Oude Stoep; Nachtwacht, or De Kantelaar are all excellent choices.
Close by the Doelensteeg is the Ruiterskwartier, which is characterised by diversity. There’s the Bebida’s shot bar, De Skamele sports bar, Scooter’s music cafe; and also De Neushoorn- so something for everyone!
If you go for a struun (Liwadders for ‘strolling’), you might end up at De Toeter on the Gouverneursplein, De Spoek on Sint Jacobsstraat, or the alternative rock cafe Mukkes. With this much variety, there’s no excuse to be bored.
