Leeuwarden Lounge
The Leeuwarden Lounge is a family business, founded by the Hashemi family. In the early 1990s, the family came to the Netherlands from Afghanistan. From Tytsjerk they ended up in Leeuwarden. Here they wanted to show something of their culture to the inhabitants of Leeuwarden and the surrounding area. And what better way to do that than through food? The idea of opening a restaurant was born. Son Tarek went into the kitchen with mom Hashemi and together they put together a delicious menu with all kinds of small dishes. A number of oriental dishes were combined with the favorite Afghan family recipes.
This is how a unique restaurant in Friesland and its surroundings was created: De Leeuwarden Lounge.

We are now almost 7 years later and the Leeuwarden Lounge has become a household name in the city and the province. Many people know where to find the restaurant for a dinner, a drink or a nice party. In addition, the Leeuwarden Lounge is now specialized in catering. From weddings to family parties and drinks. Especially on weekends, the Lounge is also a popular place to have a drink a little later in the evening with a tasty snack and possibly a Shisha (water pipe).
A number of exciting innovations are planned for the near future. In the short term, the new menu will start with a number of new traditional Afghan dishes and for the first time, a number of fish dishes will also be on the menu. The wish is to also open for lunch, so that you can enjoy the beautiful new terrace even longer. By popular request, there are now serious plans to start delivering food. In short, Leeuwarden Lounge is a lively place with an ambitious outlook for the future!
