On 13 and 14 December, the old prison of Leeuwarden will once again be bursting with Christmas cheer. With more than sixty stallholders, live music, a Christmas train for kids, and a food square, the 12th edition of the Blokhuispoort Christmas Market promises to be a grand celebration!
More than sixty stalls
“There are many small entrepreneurs at our Christmas market, which means you really get unique products and a great variety. This year we have been a bit more selective—not because we were dissatisfied in previous years, but because we want our Christmas market to continue offering special products, as that is what our visitors expect,” says Hotze Bouma, who organises the Christmas market in the Blokhuispoort.

Food square with various hospitality businesses
At the food square you’ll find winter snacks, mulled wine, and waffles. As tradition has it, alongside Proefverlof—located in the Blokhuispoort—another five hospitality businesses from outside the prison walls will be present at the food square.
Children’s area
Especially for the children, there is a Christmas train this year, and they can enjoy free rides. You don’t want to miss that!
Activities
Besides shopping, you can join in the Christmas bingo with fantastic prizes to be won, dance to the best live music, and enjoy sets from various DJs in collaboration with De Harmonie.
