When young, ambitious Thibaut is diagnosed with a serious illness, his carefully constructed life collapses. Instead of retreating, he unexpectedly dives into a world of family ties, memories and brass band rhythms. En Fanfare is a disarming portrait of letting go and starting over. Thibaut is a successful conductor, Jimmy plays in the local brass band. They are brothers, but do not know of each other's existence. This heart-warming and heart-rending feel-good film shows how music connects people, and how unlikely family ties can lead to sincere friendships. Like a musical procession at a crossroads in life, En Fanfare explores how play and ritual can help to give meaning to what happens to us.
