countertenor, oboe / recorder, viola da gamba & harpsichord / recorder

Music by Henry Purcell, Daniel Purcell and Tobias Hume.

Musica Gloria takes us to 17th-century England, the world of brothers Daniel and Henry Purcell, for a selection of vocal and instrumental gems. Alongside music from The Fairy Queen and Oh Solitude, lesser-known works are also featured.

The Purcell brothers (or were they cousins?) sang in the same choir, were both musically active in London as adults, and regularly composed together. When Henry died tragically at a young age, Daniel masterfully completed his opera The Indian Queen.

Musica Gloria is a young, vibrant top-level Baroque ensemble, led by Beniamino Paganini and Nele Vertommen.

Musica Gloria focuses on the Baroque repertoire and carefully tailors its ensemble, historical instruments and performance practice to each thoughtfully curated programme.
