Anwar and the Wolf

During the Christmas holidays, as part of Tryater’s anniversary programme, the acclaimed school production Anwar and the Wolf will be performed at Tryater in Leeuwarden — a show for everyone aged 8 to 108.

Anwar is a boy who has been wandering through Europe for some time. One evening, he suddenly finds himself face to face with a hungry wolf. Anwar and the Wolf is a visual and musical tale about borders and understanding.
The performance features five different languages — it would be a miracle to understand them all! Like Anwar, you’ll travel through unfamiliar tongues, discovering that you don’t need to understand every word to grasp what someone truly means.

With Anwar and the Wolf, Tryater explores the boundaries between language, music and visual art. In this multidisciplinary performance (language no problem), an actor, a musician and a visual performing artist together tell the story of young Anwar, who has left his homeland behind.

During the Christmas period, Tryater’s foyer will be transformed into a warm, festive space where light celebrations and rituals from different cultures come together — a place of connection, no matter where you come from. December is, after all, the perfect time to reflect, look ahead, and find meaning together.
