For Jimmy Dale, music — and surf music in particular — is a deeply rooted family tradition. As the son of the undisputed King of Surf Music, Dick Dale, Jimmy was destined from an early age to carry on his father's musical legacy. He was lovingly groomed for his future role as the Crown Prince of Surf, starting drum lessons with his father at the age of just two — while most children were still singing nursery rhymes. On stage during Dick Dale’s shows, a miniature drum kit was always set up for Jimmy, thanks to his devoted mother, Jill Dale.
By the third grade, Jimmy began receiving guitar lessons from his father, playing a custom-made Fender Stratocaster tailored precisely to his needs. Though he continued drumming, his true passion lay with the guitar, and he developed into a virtuoso capable of mirroring his father's iconic style. When Dick Dale passed away in 2019, Jimmy became the guardian of his musical heritage. With an intensity and style that closely echo his father's, Jimmy carries the torch, captivating audiences and riding the waves of surf music with his own electric energy.
His unforgettable performance at Sjock 2023 proved that Jimmy is not only following in his father's footsteps but carving out his own path as a rising legend in the world of surf music.
