Parade in the city centre and the NHL/Stenden and Wetsus event/conference in Leeuwarden

The foundation “De Grûn Beweecht” (The Ground is Moving) will quite literally and figuratively set the ground in motion in Leeuwarden, raising awareness about how we treat the soil beneath our feet.

A spectacular parade will take shape, featuring a giant cow and a large wheelbarrow transformed into a stage, followed by many more wheelbarrows and enormous soil creatures—centipedes, worms, beetles, and other underground life—magnified and brought to life by MBO students who have designed and will carry them.

The parade begins at 10:00 am at the Prinsentuin. This is also where the traditional boats (pramen and skûtsjes) will be gathered, having collected soil from various villages across Fryslân. Leeuwarden itself will also contribute soil and seeds.
