Curious to find out how Europe is represented in Leeuwarden and Friesland? Then come to Campus Fryslân on 8 May and join us in celebrating Europe Day!
Between 12 noon and 4 pm, the campus will be transformed into a bustling Europe Day market, packed with surprising activities, inspiring projects and nice encounters.
Why Europadag (Europe Day)?
Europadag is celebrated each year as a moment to reflect on peace, cooperation, and the shared values that connect us across the European Union. It’s a day to highlight just how present Europe is in our everyday lives—and in the opportunities it creates for young people. That’s exactly why, this year, we’re marking Europe Day with an inspiring program in Leeuwarden.

- 8D Games – introduces visitors to a serious game about energy choices and local energy communities.
- Bakery Sweets Center & HVHL – present sustainable and local delicacies.
- BDF – showcases European Erasmus+ projects and explains their impact.

- Fries Museum – tells the European story behind the Redbad project.

- Gemeente Leeuwarden Bodem – provides information on soil and sustainability.
- Gemeente Leeuwarden Energiecoaches – offer an energy escape room,
- Gemeente Leeuwarden Praamvaart – organizes traditional boat tours through the city centre.
- Korenbloem Schaafsma – presents local products such as sûkerbôle (sugar bread) and dúmkes (traditional cookies).

- Life on Marzj – offers an augmented reality experience in which art comes to life.
- Mevrouw Bloem
- Mythemakers – presents a historical role-playing game developed with European partners.
- NHL Stenden European Studies – Reiner Duvenga, lecturer/researcher, engages in conversations about European values.
- NHL Stenden Studentenproject – showcases portraits of residents of Leeuwarden.
- Omrin – demonstrates how circular innovation works through virtual reality.
- Pieter Zijlstra – tells about Europe as well as the region.
- Provincie Fryslân – presents projects on aqua thermal energy and water heat.
- RUG Campus Fryslân – informs visitors about European degree programmes. They will also host the lecture “Is safety the new sustainability?” on May 7 (registration available online).

- SpaceBuzz – lets visitors experience Earth through the eyes of an astronaut.
