Raku workshop (2 days); make and fire
21 March until 21 December
Two-day Raku workshop in the Blokhuispoort. Day 1 you make your pieces; day 2 you glaze and experience an exciting raku firing outdoors.
Twice a year we organise a Raku workshop, in spring and autumn. Raku is a short, spectacular Japanese firing technique in which you work with water, fire, air and earth. You remove the pieces from the kiln glowing red hot; the thermal shock creates crackle, and the unglazed parts then turn black in the sawdust reduction bin.
This workshop takes place over two days: on the first day you make your pieces, on the second day they are fired. The entire process happens in the courtyard in front of the studio. Suitable for beginners and advanced makers.
