On the occasion of the exhibition Never Built Leeuwarden at the HCL, Huub Mous will give a lecture on the grand plans and ideas that were never realized in Friesland.
Not only vanished construction projects are discussed, but also—whether fictional or not—modernization plans. But above all, the visionary works of art that once envisioned a different Friesland.
Behind the image of an unchanging province lies a history of progressive thinking, utopias, and ambitious visions of the future. What does it say about Friesland that so many dreams remained on the drawing board?
