Traces of the slavery past in Leeuwarden Tour

History

Sunday 29 June

You will hear stories about the slavery past in Leeuwarden on this tour.

On Saturday, June 24 and July 1, you can join a guide from A Guide to Leeuwarden at 2:00 PM and look for traces of slavery in Leeuwarden. Where is this still really visible in, for example, paintings or buildings? Our guides tell the stories at buildings where people who had an interest in slavery lived and also show where people protested against it.

Start: Our tours start at the Oldehoofsterkerkhof. Our guides are waiting at the entrance of Obe (the Visitor Center Leeuwarden is inside). This is opposite the Oldehove (the leaning Tower) and the regional products store Ut Streekie. The walk takes 1.5 hours

Price: This is a 'Free Tour'. At the end of the tour you can decide for yourself what you think the tour is worth, through a voluntary contribution! Language: This city walk is in Dutch.

You can register on the website of A Guide to Leeuwarden. These tours are also sometimes full, so we recommend that you sign up in advance to make sure you can walk along. This allows us to use an extra guide if necessary.

It is also possible to book this Tour exclusively for your own group. The walk is therefore also possible on other days.
