150 years of Mata Hari - Matattoo Hari | Free flash tattoos and live DJs
Saturday 23 May
Leave that endless hesitation behind and immortalise the legend on your skin. During Matattoo Hari, we pay tribute to Margaretha Geertruida Zelle—Leeuwarden’s most notorious icon—in the rawest way possible: with ink and beats.
This event is part of 150 Years of Mata Hari. This anniversary year is celebrated in Leeuwarden with art, dance, theatre, parties, exhibitions, tours, and much more. The programme runs from May 23 to August 7 (Mata Hari’s birthday) and can be found here.
Forget dusty history lessons—we’re going straight for the needle. Tattoo artists Xenja (Pointbreaktattoo) and Melissa (Hakuna Matattoo) are ready to hook you up with a free Mata Hari flash. Whether you go for a subtle symbol of mystery or a bold tribute to her rebellious spirit, these exclusive designs will be inked with care and precision in the Neushoorn café.
As DJs provide a sharp soundtrack, needles buzz softly, and ice-cold cervezas are served, we’ll kick off the anniversary year in style. One more time—together: hip hip hooray!
Make sure to arrive early, because for these free flashes it’s first come, first served.
