40 years Live Aid
Sunday 13 July
This year marks exactly 40 years since the world witnessed one of the largest pop festivals ever organized: Live Aid.
Bob Geldof, frontman of the Boomtown Rats, called on dozens of bands and musicians to join forces and raise awareness for famine and poverty in Africa — and they did. Live Aid became a global event and a massive success.

A Tribute to the Music of Live Aid brings a musical homage to this legendary concert, exactly forty years later. The band is touring across the Netherlands and will perform in Leeuwarden’s Prinsentuin on Saturday 13 July — the same date Live Aid took place in 1985. A special moment for the city, with special guest Bert Heerink (known from Vandenberg, Kayak and Jan Akkerman).
The concert is free to attend and starts at 16:00.
Proceeds go to The Quiet Community Leeuwarden, with special attention for this important cause.
Please note: warm weather expected
