Opening of Water Sports Season Leeuwarden

On Saturday afternoon, 2 May, visitors and residents can enjoy free water sports activities. Between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, there will be a wide range of free activities for all ages to mark the opening of the water sports season in Leeuwarden. The activities will take place in the city centre and in the Prinsentuin. 

Music programme:

Music will be played at two fixed locations: in the Prinsentuin and on the Nieuwestad.
Enjoy an afternoon full of local talent and up-and-coming acts from across the country, whilst enjoying a snack and/or drink from the food truck. 

Nieuwestad programme:

1:00 pm – 1:45 pm: Sym&Sanne

2:00 pm - 2:45 pm: Sen&Fen

3:00 pm - 3:45 pm: Muriel

Prinsentuin Programme:

1:05 pm - 1:50 pm: We Try John Mayer 

2:10 pm - 2:55 pm: Melissa Pander & Band

3:15 pm - 4:00 pm: SIPKE

A boat trip through the canals:

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm: Sternse Slotlanders Drum Band

Activities for young and old:

Go stand-up paddleboarding, rowing or canoeing in the Prinsentuin.
Take a trip on a Greenjoy boat, jump into a water roller, show how quickly you can hoist a jib, or make your own water-themed tapestry. 
Various water sports companies will be there to tell you more and show you what they do.
