Feest!

The Princessehof is celebrating for a whole year! With a large exhibition we show how parties are celebrated throughout the Netherlands; from Passover and Ketikoti to Carnival and Diwali.

In this exhibition, we investigate how we celebrate in the Netherlands, what we celebrate and with whom. The differences between the celebrations are large, but food and drink almost always play an important role, and so do ceramics. Do you have something to celebrate? Then you take your most beautiful tableware out of the cupboard. Or just that one (slightly damaged) bowl that you got from your grandmother. It is precisely personal stories that form the starting point of this associative exhibition.

Party! consists of twelve installations with ceramics from our own collection and costly objects from revelers from all over the country. In the exhibition they tell everything about their celebration and traditions in audio fragments. This creates a rich picture of the celebrations with which we mark important moments.

Audio Stories
For this exhibition, we have been partying all over the Netherlands for a year. We have made audio stories of all those parties, which you can view in this exhibition. Scan the QR codes in the exhibition with your phone's camera to automatically access the audio stories. Enjoy the stories optimally through your own headphones or earphones. Don't have with you? Lower the volume of your phone using the volume buttons and hold your phone close to the floor. No smartphone with you, or do you prefer a written story? Then pick up the handout at the front desk.
