Just a stone's throw from Leeuwarden lies De Wartenster, a versatile family business! Originating from a dairy farm with a history of over 100 years, De Wartenster has grown into a modern company specializing in parties & events, outdoor sports, food & drink, and barge tours. Since 2020, you can even stay a few nights at the mini-campsite or camper pitch. Looking for an unforgettable summer? Then you've come to the right place.

Camping and Motorhome Pitch Warten

Welcome to our campsite. The campsite is located near Leeuwarden, Eernewoude, and Grou. It is easily accessible, while offering plenty of peace and space. There are many fun excursions to be made in the immediate vicinity. The campsite is situated in the watersports village of Warten. This is the ideal base for a bike ride, a trip in a sloop (own or rented), or a tour on one of our open tour boats. We feature a spacious restaurant, ample sanitary facilities, a playground, many activities, tour boats, etc.

De Wartenster is situated right next to De Alde Feanen National Park, an excellent area for a canoe trip, boat trip, or walk. This makes De Wartenster the ideal campsite for families. Children can have a great time in the large playground with a trampoline, zip line, swings, and other equipment.

Our pitches are spacious and have their own power connection (6 amp) and water tap. There is a paved pitch for motorhomes. Showers are free, and Wi-Fi is also available for free. We have a restaurant and a spacious terrace for a nice drink, a good meal, or a delicious wood-fired pizza!
Various activities are organized for children (and adults), such as archery, boat trips, pony riding, and paintball.

Restaurant

A warm welcome to our restaurant and terrace. We are open from Friday to Sunday from 12:00 PM. Naturally, we open our terrace on other days when the weather is nice!

In accordance with RIVM regulations, we ask you to make a reservation in advance for dinner (inside the restaurant). You do not need to reserve for the terrace, although you are welcome to do so. The condition is that you are healthy. If you have respiratory symptoms, we must ask you to stay home. A maximum of 30 guests are allowed in our restaurant, while there is no limit on the number of guests on the terrace. You may sit within 1,5 meters of each other in pairs, even if you do not live under the same roof. Families and people living under the same roof may sit within 1.5 meters.
In practice, this means that we do not need uninviting large spaces, but by placing the tables slightly further apart, this can be ensured!

In addition to a large garden/terrace, we also have a large covered terrace and veranda. Plenty of space!

You can reserve a number of seats in advance via the link below. Based on the reserved number of people, we will arrange a suitable table layout.

Activities

You are most welcome to join us for a barge tour or activity. In consultation, we can put together a package that complies with RIVM guidelines while still ensuring a wonderful day!

At De Wartenster, we have a large garden, an even larger meadow, four tour boats, three function rooms, an in-house kitchen and bar, and nearly 1250 square meters of covered activity space. Our location means that virtually nothing is impossible. A tailor-made activity or package is available for every budget, group size, and occasion. Naturally, we work well with local businesses.
