At Natuurmuseum Fryslân, you embark on an adventure in nature. Four floors packed with information, unique animals and plants, activities, experiments, games, and other surprises invite you to discover. Hands-on activities and experiences take center stage. TIP: The museum is free to visit every Tuesday! With the exception of all school holidays.

View the treasures Captain Severein collected on his voyages around the world, feel like Tom Thumb next to the enormous jaws of the blue whale, and watch the taxidermist mount a long-eared owl or kestrel in the Open Studio. Wander past the various subjects in Wonderland, such as albinos, prints & droppings, and records in the animal world. For the very little ones, a visit to Dragon Li-Ming is an unforgettable experience, while older children can discover everything about the theory of evolution in Darwin's Attic.

The Underwater Safari
The Natural History Museum has a real attraction on offer! In the Underwater Safari (suitable for ages 4+), you step into a vehicle that takes you on a journey through the underwater world of the Netherlands. From the fresh water of ditches and ponds to the salt water of the Wadden Sea. Along the way, you will see what lives beneath the surface, and who knows, you might even spot them: the Big Five of the Dutch underwater world: the beaver, otter, catfish, seal, and porpoise!
