Alibi Hostel

The Alibi Hostel is situated in the old prison of Leeuwarden, the Blokhuispoort. The hostel is located in a cell block, and as a guest, you will sleep in a cell with us.

The cell block was built in 1875 and has been almost completely restored to its original state, without compromising on comfort and coziness. This makes for a unique experience!

The Blokhuispoort, where the hostel is located, lies right in the city center of Leeuwarden. So shops, museums, and theater/music venues are within walking distance. But there is also plenty to experience inside the Blokhuispoort. For instance, there are shops located beneath the hostel, studios within the prison walls, and a restaurant. Furthermore, it is possible to take a guided tour, given the building's remarkable history.

We, Marieke, Peter, Sjors, and Jurrien, are four young entrepreneurs. All four were born and raised in Leeuwarden and know the city like the back of our hand. We have also all worked in the hospitality industry for years, so opening a hostel together was the ultimate next step. We felt that a hostel was truly missing from Leeuwarden's offerings and are trying to make our city accessible to everyone in this way. So come and visit us for a unique experience and a carefree stay.

In addition to overnight stays, you can also come to us for meetings. Our hostel has a meeting room suitable for up to 10 to 12 people. This room is equipped with a projector and a sound system. The room is available Monday to Friday between 10:30 and 18:00, and on weekends between 11:00 and 18:00. There are also several options to provide you with lunch.
