Tresoar
Tresoar: the treasure trove of Frisian history.
Tresoar is the repository of the history of Fryslân. Here you will find countless newspapers and magazines published in Fryslân, hundreds of thousands of books including copies from the library of Erasmus, tens of thousands of photos, films, sound recordings, court records, notarial deeds, the Atlas of Blaeu, manuscripts and letters from famous Frisians, business archives of Douwe Egberts and archives of the Elfsteden Association, CDs ranging from Frisian punk to classical, the painstaking work the “Attic Nights” from 836 AD, the oldest and newest (Frisian) literature, scientific publications, digital files, the civil registry of Fryslân which may contain information about your Frisian ancestors. And much more!!
Our building is buzzing with activities for young and old: concerts, lectures, exhibitions, educational projects, and children's lectures. In addition, it is an ideal space for scientists, genealogists, students, and schoolchildren to work on research (together) in peace and quiet. You can simply walk right in.
In short: Tresoar is the place to be to discover, explore, and tell stories, physically and/or digitally.
You are most welcome!
