Monday in Leeuwarden
Leeuwarden is a bustling city with many nice cafés, hard-working entrepreneurs, impressive museums and a dazzling calendar of events full of theatre, music and cabaret. Yet even these entrepreneurs, musicians and hotel & restaurant crew sometimes need a day to recuperate, and that is often on Mondays. Luckily, there are still plenty of fun things to do! Are you ready for a relaxing day in Leeuwarden?
10:00 am - breakfast
Start your day relaxed, while a tasty breakfast is being prepared for you. Your only task? Choosing! Coffee or mint tea, a freshly squeezed juice or a smoothie, a delicious bagel or sunny side up eggs – what will it be?

12:00 pm - action!
With a good breakfast in your belly, it’s time for action! Luckily, there’s still plenty to do in Leeuwarden on a Monday – for the young, the old, and everyone in between.
11Fountains
If you’ve ever arrived in Leeuwarden by train, you’ve no doubt seen them: the serene children's faces of the LOVE Fountain. In honor of Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018 – the year Leeuwarden was the European Capital of Culture – all eleven Frisian cities were given their own fountain. Each fountain comes with a walking route that guides you past the city's highlights. In Leeuwarden, check out the 'Love' fountain by Jaume Plensa and enjoy the surprises along the way. Curious about the other fountains and cities? Discover the eleven cities of Fryslân.
            Historisch Centrum Leeuwarden
At the Historisch Centrum Leeuwarden – commonly known as the HCL – you’ll find both permanent and temporary exhibitions. Here you can learn all about the origins and history of Leeuwarden, see what the Oldehove was supposed to look like, and marvel at old footage from the 1930s, 1940s and later years in our little city. The current exhibition at the HCL is free to visit and open on Mondays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Want to learn more about the history of Leeuwarden and Friesland? Then be sure to drop by the neighbours: Tresoar.
