Street Art Scavenger Hunt
until 31 July 2027
A Guide to Leeuwarden has created a special Street Art Scavenger Hunt for primary school children, making spotting street art even more fun for kids – and their parents! The updated map will be available again from 22 July at the Leeuwarden Visitor Center.
With the Street Art Scavenger Hunt, your children use clues to search for animals hidden in some of Leeuwarden’s most impressive street art. The city centre is packed with colourful murals just waiting to be discovered.
The Street Art Scavenger Hunt starts at the Leeuwarden Visitor Center (Heer Ivostraatje 1). You can also pick up the Leeuwarden Art Route map here, which includes the Street Art in the City Centre walking route. The shorter route is just 2.5 km long and takes you past 25 works of street art – so there’s something new to discover roughly every 100 metres. Along the way, you’ll also pass family-friendly places to stop for something to eat or drink, a playground and Natuurmuseum Fryslân.

If your children are a little older, you can opt for the longer 5.5 km route, which takes you past 60 works of street art.
The route maps also include information about the artworks you’ll see along the way. But why not ask your children what they think each mural is about? It’s a great way to encourage them to look closely – and you might be surprised by some of their answers!
