How fragile are we – as human beings, as a species and as part of a greater whole? This question lies at the heart of the exhibition.
Van der Pas explores a tension that many will recognise: her dismay at environmental destruction, war and human arrogance exists alongside her profound sense of wonder at the power, unpredictability and beauty of nature. We do not stand above or apart from nature; we are woven into it. It is precisely in our mistaken belief that the world somehow ‘belongs to us’ that our vulnerability is revealed.
Van der Pas selected works by Maria Leeflang, Miranda Bosman and Herma Betten that complement the theme. Each adds a distinct perspective – concrete, tangible and symbolic.
The exhibition runs from 6 June to 27 September 2026.
