The iconic story of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens - about Ebenezer Scrooge, a curmudgeon who despises the poor and the sick - has been told many times at home and abroad. This year, Scrooge will once again be translated into a special live and contemporary television spectacle by a star cast. Scrooge Live will look like a musical feature film, rewritten with a contemporary twist by comedian, actor and writer Kasper van Kooten. In the 2020 edition, he played the role of Bob Cratchit.

Scrooge Live  will be performed completely in the Christmas spirit and against the beautiful backdrop of the city of Leeuwarden. The story is told musically with new arrangements of appropriate Christmas songs and international hits, which everyone can sing along at home. In short: a wonderful Christmas experience for the whole family!

Unfortunately, the message of Scrooge Live is still highly topical and urgent. In the Netherlands, 315,000 children and young people up to the age of 21 currently live in poverty, with all the associated consequences. That is at least one in twelve. Research shows that poverty in a child can have lifelong consequences. With Scrooge Live, attention is drawn to child poverty in the Netherlands. The purpose of the broadcast is to expose the problem and to raise as much money as possible to help these children with new clothes. Kinderhulp believes that all children deserve a little warmth, but above all they should experience that they are important and that they belong.
