Knight Toggenburg goes to war and when he returns, his love has become a nun. Day and night he watches in front of the monastery, hoping to catch a glimpse of her.
Leonore is waiting for her betrothed Wilhelm. He has gone to war. The war is over, but he won't come home. One night he returns to marry his Lenore…….
The Polish Lodoiska takes her sweetheart Count Falk out of battle with a ruse, but he chooses to fight and die. When an old monk dies, he confesses an event that haunted him all his life. In Schön Hedwig we witness a love that transcends class differences.

The powerful visual music comes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is by the unknown composers Carl Haslinger, Ferdinand Hummel, Max Schillings and Richard Kügele. The encore is by Robert Schumann. The pianist Rixt van der Kooij frames the text with this late Romantic music.

The concert will take place in the Baptist church, Wirdumerdijk 18 in Leeuwarden. Tickets for €17.50 are available at the venue. Reservations can be made via info@vocaaldrieuiken.nl. The QR code is checked. For more information, visit www.vocaaldrieuiken.nl
