Leeuwarder Kamerkoor - Peace I leave with you

This year, the Leeuwarder Kamerkoor choir will perform the concert concluding the annual Commemoration of the Dead in the Prinsentuin in Leeuwarden. This 4 May concert will take place in the Grote or Jacobijner Kerk and is called: 'Peace I leave with you', after a piece by Norwegian composer Knut Nystedt. The Leeuwarder Kamerkoor choir is conducted by Eduardo López Cabello.

After the official commemoration in Prinsentuin park, at home or elsewhere - the concert will provide a moment of reflection and contemplation and the opportunity to feel connected with each other. Commemoration is about giving new meaning to the past in the present and is inextricably linked to music. Every year, we commemorate the fallen soldiers and citizens from World War II. This year, we would like to think about the residents from and in the Ukraine where war has caused unspeakable suffering. Therefore we will sing music by Ukrainian-born composer Dmitry Bortniansky.

We will also sing pieces by Arvo Pärt and Francis Poulenc highlighting human emotions such as fear in anxious times and love for each other, while Ola Gjeilo and Maurice Duruflé bring the message of light and hope.
