The Vault
Sunday 2 February Tour of the Vaults of Leeuwarden

Tour of the Vaults of Leeuwarden

The underground treasure vault (or Schatkamer) of the HCL was opened in 2009 through Geert Mak. The show-room, designed mainly for historical research, was equipped by the TInker Imagineers from Utrecht. In February 2015, following months of refurbishment, the vault was opened to the public.

Aside from historical documents, and treasures from Leeuwarden's time as a royal city, the vault also contains a glass showcase from WWI owned by Mata Hari, and also her middle school report. The Championship Dish won by SC Cambuur in 2013 is also on display. Aside from these, you'll also find paintings of the Wirdumerpoort and the city centre, and also a 16th Century pay-box- amongst others.
