Become a water wise person with the new sporty experience walk (8 km) from Dekema State!

Experience walk with QR codes
On the basis of a road map with 18 QR codes, you gain knowledge about the role that water plays at Dekema State, the agricultural land around it and the Leeuwarder Bos. By scanning the QR codes, the information is displayed on your smartphone. At home you can read the route one more time on your phone or computer. You will receive in-depth information via a link provided.

The role of water
The 'W2 Route' (Water Facts) of 8 kilometers takes you over the Dekema State estate, along (old) waterways and through the Leeuwarder Bos. Waterways, and dykes. Water quality, agricultural water use and the flora and fauna of wetlands will be discussed. You will also learn more about the role of water at a country estate such as Dekema State.

Creation
The W2 Route was developed by the education department of Dekema State in collaboration with Wetterskip Fryslân. Financial support was provided by the Kijlstra Smid Fund, the Van Heloma Foundation and the Boelstra Olivier Foundation.

Practical information
The route map with QR codes is available as of May 22 for €4 at the entrance of Dekema State . This is also the start and end point of the walk. Payment can be made in cash or by card, the toilets are open and coffee/tea/juice is available on the go. Because the walk goes through the Leeuwarder Bos, waterproof sturdy shoes are recommended!
