The musician Saskia Laroo (b. 1959), also called "Lady Miles of Europe," provides stunning and overwhelming jazz concerts on trumpet (and double bass) at home and abroad. From the age of eight she has been playing trumpet and later bass in various groups. She flies all over the world with her accompanist Warren Byrd to present her music that is a mix of jazz, pop, world, hip-hop, reggae and dance. And all these musical delights can be found on no less than 18 CDs - LPs....
For example, her CD/DVD "Live in Zimbabwe" is the ultimate proof of how much this Amsterdam musician can swing. But certainly her enormous versatility in jazz music can also be called unique, as evidenced by her CDs "Two of a kind - a tribute to Miles & Monk" and "Jazzkia" on which swinging jazz by Gershwin, Rollins and miss Laroo herself can be heard. 'Really Jazzy' is a CD blend of funk, dance, rap & grooves.
Saskia Laroo performs concerts all over the world: from America to Asia. She recently returned from Thailand where she performed a series of successful concerts. In her musical past she has collaborated with Toots Thielemans, Roy Hargrove, Wynton Marsalis, Hans & Candy Dulfer, Rosa King, Marcus Miller and Maceo Parker, among others.
On this Sunday afternoon, Saskia (trumpet, sax & vocals) and Warren (piano, vocals) will perform as a duo:
