Eleven fountains in the eleven Frisian cities, designed by eleven artists from eleven different countries. 11fountains is an international art project for Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018, European Capital of Culture, thought up and curated by Anna Tilroe.
The fountains in Friesland have been in hibernation since November 1! The IJsfontein (ice fountain) in Dokkum is an exception: it remains active in the winter. But don't worry, because from March 22 on, all fountains have awakened from their sleep and can be admired again!
