Pram Tales: King Lear
King Lear is old and tired of ruling. He divides his kingdom among his three daughters but there is no question of a peaceful retirement. Lear loses first his crown, then his daughters, then his last vestige of power, and eventually he will slowly lapse into madness. And then nothing is left but silence, a last glimmer of hope and the shared shudder.
Pram Tales, King Lear with Joop Wittermans as the dreamed Lear, is a multimedia narrative during a boat trip through the inner city of Leeuwarden. Images, texts, a poetic flow, appear on the quays, which together with the words whispered by the actors through headphones, tell the story of Shakespeare's King Lear.
From Wednesday 15 to Saturday 25 March every Wednesday-Thursday-Friday and Saturday evening. There are two boat trips per evening.
