From the 22nd November until the 8th December, some of the best works by young, talented artists, will again be displayed at the Media Art Festival. The two-week festival concerns works in the fields of media, light, and sound from young makers- all of which are around the theme of ILLUSIONS. This will also be in full view at the third edition of the LUNA Leeuwarden Urban Night Adventure events on the 28th, 29th and 30th November. Art from internationally renowned artists and makers from the region will present high-profile projects for an enchanting nocturnal walk through the beautiful city center of Leeuwarden.

Step into the world of our festival, and get carried away by the work of our 15 Young Masters: the best up-and-coming media-art talents from both here and abroad. With light, sound, film, and a lot of plugs and cables, stories will be told aboutthe separation and interfaces of different dimensions.

Take time, let your thoughts run, ask questions, be critical. The participators within the Media Art Festival are all recent graduates from various Dutch and International art academies. Aside from the main exhibition, there is also a programme centred around the theme of ILLUSIONS: two weeks of workshops, performances, and discussions.

In addition to the Young Masters exhibition, which can be seen daily for 10 days, we will also focus on the
ILLUSIONS theme in our programme. Together with artists and scientists we will experience
whether reality as we experience it is blurred, and whether other dimensions become perceptible under the influence of media and technology.
What is illusion and what is reality and what does that mean for us?

We look forward to discussing and experiencing all of this with you!
