Discover the history of Leeuwarden
Discover the history of Leeuwarden during October Children's Month
Visit the Historical Centre Leeuwarden and learn all about the capital of Fryslân. In our exhibition Stories of Leeuwarden, you will find unique objects, such as an executioner's sword, a 1200-year-old skeleton, a coin hoard, and film footage from 100 years ago.
Children can participate in various free activities. Use an activity booklet to search for family crests of Frisian noble families from the Middle Ages. Listen to stories from children who used to live in Leeuwarden with an audio tour. Or pick up a route booklet and look for gable stones with special stories in the city center.
Opening hours: Tue-Fri 11:00-17:00 and Sat-Mon 13:00-17:00
Admission: admission and children's activities are free!
