In the exhibition 'Rock-'n-Roll in Friesland 1960-1999', you get an insight into the lives of 42 Frisian rockers. The book and the exhibition not only provide a special and varied picture of the lives of 42 Frisian rockers, but also of the spirit of 1960-1999. The exhibition shows a time image of a changing music culture: from the first beat bands, progressive rock and metal to ska, Frisian breeze and hip hop. The stories are brought to life with portrait photos provided by eleven top Frisian photographers and unique images from the rockers' private collections.

An exhibition about music without musical instruments? Not 'Rock-'n-Roll in Friesland'! During the exhibition, part of Obe has been set up as a 'real' stage with musical instruments such as a drum set, bass guitars, an organ and amplifiers. As if the rockers have just left the stage… You can also buy souvenirs such as postcards with photos from the book, t-shirts and the book in the temporary museum shop. A nice memory of your visit to 'Rock-'n-Roll in Friesland'!

Entirely in line with the theme, a vinyl evening will be organized on 18 November in collaboration with Huiskamertheater De Wier. Visitors can bring their own LPs, some of which will be discussed and played that evening. On November 26, stories about music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s will be told during the Story Night. Information about both evenings will soon be available on our website.

The design of the exhibition was in the hands of Monique Vogelsang. The book 'Rock-'n-Roll in Friesland' was conceived by Robert Wielinga and published by Uitgeverij Louise.
