Nijkleasterkuier

At Nijkleaster, pilgrimages follow a familiar rhythm of silence – reflection – connection.
You begin the walk in silence, then continue in conversation, interspersed with readings or songs. The morning ends by sharing your self-brought lunch together. Visitors are warmly welcome — whether you join the full walk, only attend the service, or prefer a shorter route.

The length of the Nijkleaster Walk varies depending on the weather and the participants, but usually lasts about 60 minutes.

Programme of the Nijkleaster Walk

9:30 a.m. – Morning prayer (a simple service with readings, prayers, silence and a few songs)
10:00 a.m. – Coffee and tea
10:30 a.m. – Start of the Nijkleaster Walk
12:00 p.m. – Lunch (bring your own)

Notes to help you prepare

• Gathering point: the church in Jorwert (Sluytermanwei 4, Jorwert).

• Parking: on the edge of Jorwert or at the designated car park opposite the café beside the farm.

• The morning service starts at 9:30 a.m. — if you’re running late, just come in quietly.

• In winter, the church is not heated, so dress warmly.

• Good walking shoes or boots are essential.

• Groups larger than eight people are asked to register in advance.
