Nijkleasterkuier

The Nijkleasterkuier is a weekly walk on Wednesday mornings at Nijkleaster. Visitors are warmly welcome to a simple program of silence, reflection, and connection. It begins at 9:30 AM with a morning prayer, followed by coffee and introductions.

At Nijkleaster, it is the established custom to walk the pilgrimage in three stages: silence – reflection – connection. You first walk in silence, then in conversation, during which passages are read or songs are sung. We conclude by sharing your own packed lunch. Visitors are warmly welcome, even if you only wish to attend the service or take a shorter route.

The length of the Nijkleasterkuier depends on the weather and the participants. The walk takes approximately 60 minutes.  

The program of the Nijkleasterkuier :

09:30 Morning Prayer (simple service with readings, prayer, silence, and a few songs)
10:00 coffee and tea
10:30 start of the NijKleasterkuier
12:00 lunch (bring your own)

A few notes to help you decide:

• Meet at the church in Jorwert (Sluytermanwei 4, Jorwert). Park at the edge of Jorwert or in the designated parking spaces directly opposite the café next to the farm.
• The morning service starts at 09:30 AM. Even if you are late: just come in.
• The church is not heated in winter. Wear warm clothes.
• Good walking shoes or boots are important
• Please register groups larger than eight people in advance. A Tailor-Made Program specifically for groups is also possible (maximum 12 people). Inquire about the possibilities for a Tailor-Made Program via info@nijkleaster.frl
