ULYSSES European Odyssey
Leeuwarden is representing the Netherlands in a large-scale European project, ULYSSES European Odyssey. Inspired by James Joyce Ulysses, Leeuwarden has chapter 13 on the theme of Gender Freedom in Contemporary Europe. Co-produced by Noorderlicht and Brave New World Productions, the exhibition consists of two parts:
- SEX SHOOTER | The Liberation of Sexual Identity: video, sound and photo installation by artist Hester Scheurwater, with installations by Nelke Mast and Chiara Pastoor
- Gender matters: stories from Istanbul: clips from the film My Child in which four parents talk about the discovery that their children are gay or transsexual and four videos documenting the timeline of the LGBTQI+ struggle in Istanbul.
