As an opera composer, Reinhard Keizer knew exactly how to touch his audience. And his music still does that. With his Brockes Passion, Keizer was a real trendsetter, because greats such as Telemann and Handel followed his example. Even Bach performed Keizer's passion piece. The secret? The music bustles and sparkles, there are strong emotions, great contrasts and lively dialogues. The text with all its dramatic and visual passages was grist to the mill of the composer who had a preference for musical theater. He knew exactly how to captivate and hold the audience. In short, a performance that will not leave you cold.
